Purpose and Objective:
Through the services we provide as a Transfusion Center, our aim is to contribute to clinical blood management at Istanbul Mehmet Akif Ersoy Chest, Heart and Vascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, which makes a difference in the sector with pioneering practices and a service approach aligned with international quality standards; follows scientific and technological developments with its distinguished staff; focuses on patient, patient-relative, and employee satisfaction; and never compromises on ethical principles.
Services Provided:
Laboratory Services:
Immunohematological tests (Blood grouping, Erythrocyte antigen screening, Crossmatch, Coombs tests)
Macro ELISA tests (HIV Combo, HBsAg, Syphilis Antigen, Anti-HCV Antibody)
Complete blood count (Hemogram) test
Other Services:
Supplying all blood product needs (whole blood, erythrocyte suspension, fresh frozen plasma, apheresis platelets, random platelets, cryoprecipitate, irradiated blood – approximately 20,000 products annually) for patients in our hospital’s operating rooms and inpatient wards in both planned and emergency situations,
Blood component preparation (Since transitioning from a Temporary Regional Blood Center to Transfusion Center status, blood is collected from donors only in emergency situations and suitability is evaluated),
Monitoring critical blood product stocks; ensuring proper storage conditions of blood components; performing necessary additional procedures (product separation, irradiation); managing transfers; and maintaining relevant records,
Contributing to training programs on the appropriate use of blood and blood products in our hospital.
We provide services with our team consisting of a responsible specialist physician, technicians, nurses, a secretary, and support staff.
